Google earth is a program that can be downloaded for free on your desktop. It is a program that is basically a huge map of the world. It can be used in education to strengthen ones geographical knowledge. Google earth allows you to type any location in the world into a search box and then it finds that place on the map and gives you the ability to zoom in and veiw a satellite image of the area you requested. This works very well to view historical land marks and even your home town. Google earth will also provide directions from your starting point to your requested ending location.

The Pathfinder is an example of a speech generating device utilzed by those who have difficulty communicating verbally due to their disability. This device is used by both adults and students to assist in daily conversations. Pathfinders contain a variety of vocabulary programs allowing the user to have shortcuts to words and phrases, rather than spelling out every word in a conversation. It has pictures to help the user explain exactly what they want without having to spell out every word. Individuals can use the vocabulary programs to create and store words or phrases for quick access. However, the Pathfinder also has pre-stored the common words or phrases to save the individual’s valuable time.

The DV4 is a dynamic display device which uses a synethesized computer voice to help people with certain disabilities. It also has a scanning feature to help people with more needs than others. It contains a 17 page set that is already programed into the device before it is shipped. The sets are used to meet the special needs of all children and adults at every level. It can be controlled by either a mouse of head pointer or even touch screen. It talks by text so that the person who is trying to be taught can better understand the teacher. This device is great for every special education facility.

The radio frequency clicker is used in the classroom to quickly get an electronic response from all of the students during a lecture. This helps teachers figure out what percentage of the students understand the lesson or if he/she needs to go back and reexplain the lesson. This is much more efficient and saves time rather than discussing the lesson with each individual student. This also ensures the teacher that the students are paying attention as well as understanding the lesson. Clickers can also be used to take attendance or quiz the students. The radio frequency receiver goes into a USB port where answers are received and recorded in the database.

The PDF Annotator can be used in the classroom to teach lessons coming from the internet much easier. Its used to make PDF documents with out having to use step by step software. Before the PDF Annotator, annotation or commenting on a document would have required multiple documents that would have to be used in a row with this new system it can be done right from the file with the mouse. Everything can now be reviewed without printing the document off first.
